This Week's Sermon: "Vital Signs"

If you’ve ever found yourself in the ER or Urgent Care at a hospital, you know that the doctor or medical professional attending to you will likely start by assessing four primary vital signs: your heart rate, your respiratory rate, your blood pressure, and your body temperature. Why? So that they can compare your vital signs with the standard and know what next-steps they will need to take in order to best address your needs.

As important as it is to have a good understanding of your physical wellbeing, it is infinitely more important to know where you stand from a spiritual perspective. What would God’s assessment be of your current spiritual condition? What are the key vital signs that indicate whether or not you are, in fact, spiritually alive?

There are eternal ramifications to such questions, but as we move towards the conclusion of our study in the book of 1 John, the apostle John is going to help us by summarizing the specific vital signs that God is looking for in your life.
